Gong Sound Library: play every note

Gongs and singing bowls from octave 1 to 5, to play in your browser.

Gong Index

Click, tap or drag across the gongs

Larger gongs = lower pitch. Strike harder by clicking the center, softer near the rim.

How to play

Each row is an octave, from the deepest (octave 1) to the highest (octave 5). The larger the gong, the lower the note. Click or tap a gong to strike it: closer to the centre sounds stronger, closer to the rim softer. Drag across the gongs to play a glissando.

Switch to Singing bowls to strike bowls, or press and hold one to make it sing, as if you were rubbing its rim. With the controls you can change the hardness of the mallet, the sustain, the space (reverb), the volume and the A4 reference.

A model, not a recording

The sounds are generated live in your browser from an acoustic model of gongs and bowls; they are not recordings of our instruments. The Sound Library is a way to explore pitch and register: to hear the difference between an A2 and a B2 before you choose the note of your gong. To hear our real gongs, watch the videos on the 60 cm, 80 cm and 100 cm pages.

From exploring to choosing

Found a note you love? Our Handheld Gong can be tuned from G2 to G3, the Core Gong from C2 to C3. If you already play other instruments, the free strobe tuner shows which notes pair with yours.
